Travis Robinson (#813) has claimed his first Car King of the Desert crown after finishing with the fastest overall time on Race Day 2 at the 2025 Tatts Finke Desert Race.
Robinson completed the Day 2 leg within 1 hour, 46 minutes and 09.07 seconds alongside Navigator Paul Currie, edging out his older brother Beau and claiming his first King of the Desert Crown.
“It’s just a massive accomplishment, it’s something that I’ve always wanted to accomplish my whole life,” he said. “It’s about as good as it gets, the best result possible 1-2 with my brother.”
Reigning champ and older brother Beau Robinson (#413) ensured it was the first time brothers finished in first and second at the Tatts Finke Desert Race, making it back to back podiums alongside navigator Shane Hutt.
“Yeah it was good it was just like pre run, we just cruised and made sure the boys behind stayed behind making sure we could protect his lead and obviously our position and cruised home,” Robinson said.
“To run 1-2, it’s a big job just to get one car to the end but to get two right at the top is unreal.”
Finke debutant and Kiwi competitor Boston Morgan – Horan clinched a podium finish in his first ever Finke alongside navigator Will Haddock, rounding out the podium at the 2025 Tatts Finke Desert Race.
Jeff Mcniven (#604) finished 14th overall, taking out the SXS category with a time of 02:12:09.

Held on the King’s Birthday Long Weekend (June 6 – June 9, 2025) the 2025 Tatts Finke Desert Race is an off-road, multi terrain two-day race for bikes, cars, buggies and quads through desert country from Alice Springs to the small Aputula (Finke) community.
