E18: MUDDY FLING
Image

Braving the cold, spectators poured through the gates to see the mud flinging action at the Romsey property 60 minutes north west of Melbourne. Mud racing has had a long tradition  as a family sport, competitors as young as 15 race modified 4x4's like “Suzuki’s” and “Diahatsu's”, there is a production class for road registered vehicles and a Modified and Super Modified classes.

E18: RILEY'S SILVER BULLET

Named after a Patagonian mountain cat that is known for its agility and heartiness in harsh terrain, the Mitsubishi Pajero has certainly lived up to the reputation of its namesake.

Here in Australia it has an enviable reputation with Ralliart Pajeros winning numerous iconic Wynn's Safaris, and several Off-Road Racing titles being dominated by the Pajeros of Fabio Zafati and Geoff Pickering. Now the Pajero is again proving itself as a solid performer in the hands of experienced campaigners Steve Riley and John Doble.

E18: CLIFFHANGER 2009
Image

With a five year history, the Ironman Cliffhanger extreme 4x4 offroad challenge held near the outback opal mining town of White Cliffs in the central west of NSW has grown every year, with 2009 setting the benchmark for extreme offroad events. 47 Competitors started this year's challenge with a massive 55 initial Entries. Mechanical failure and finances held a few from attending but for Tim and Tom Margitich it was a devastating blow to roll their Series 2 Discovery with race truck in tow in Outback SA on the way to this years challenge. Luckily both escaped without injury and we hope so see them back in action soon.

E17: Bushranger Clubkhana
Image

Navigating tightly winding tracks, hill climbs, precise maneuvering and hopping logs is nothing new to most in the competitive 4WDing scene. But throw in a game of Croquet, and a couple of games of Coits and Horseshoes, and competition takes on a whole new meaning.
